A Year by the River
March 2025
The month of March brings with it the promise of spring with splashes of color and new life beginning to sprout here and there. The slight increase in temperature encouraged me to spend a little more time outside, in contrast to last year when I was recovering from neck surgery and missed photographing all the budding signs of spring. Spring is really is my favorite time of the year because it awakens my sense of wonder. I observed many ducks visiting the Bronx River including the colorful Wood Duck and the Green Winged Teal. Little animals that spent the winter tucked away in their burrows, like Mr. Chipmunk, are beginning to emerge, ready to enjoy the warmer days ahead. But the Dark-Eyed Junco is still here, a sign that winter is holding on for a little longer.
