I won't sugercoat it: I am a total junkie - specifically a shampoo and conditioner junky that is. In my shower, you will find multiple bottles of shampoos, conditioners and hair masks simply because I love experimenting with new products. But honestly, I have struggled with finding a product line that is naturally derived and that balances my unique hair type. It is hard for me to define my hair. It's a combination of wavy, straight and curly strands that are coarse and frizzy in spots.
One day over the summer, my daughter Sam introduced me to Function of Beauty's wavy hair products...

I was impressed with how well these products maximized my mixed-hair type just by drying naturally. Hello smooth waves. I am officially hooked on this line and use it as my everyday shampoo. Three to four times a week I use the hair mask.

Benefits of Function of Beauty that I absolutely love.
🌟 First of all, as I am getting older and approach menopause, I am paying more attention to ingredients that are not only in the foods I eat but also the products I use on my skin and hair. Chemical toxins are all over the place, including many products in the beauty industry. These toxins can be hormonal disrupters.
What are hormonal disrupters?
Hormonal disrupters are also referred to as endocrine disrupters. They are chemicals that can interfere with the endocrine (hormonal) system of the body and they are substances that can mimic, block, or interfere with hormones, potentially leading to significant health issues. I've added some links below if you want to learn more about hormonal disrupters. But here's the deal with Function of Beauty:
The Function of Beauty wavy hair line is made up of ingredients that are 92% naturally derived. Do I wish it was more? Yes. But for now I am satisfied with this.
They are Phthalate free. Phthalates are chemicals used in some hair products as a gelling agent but are known to cause health issues specifically with the endocrine system.
They are Paraben free. Parabens are used as preservatives. These chemicals can mimic estrogen and can cause the abnormal growth of cells leading to cancers, such as breast cancer which is an estrogen related cancer.
🌟 In addition, Function of Beauty products are Sulfate free. Sulfates strip the hair of its natural oils, leading to frizzy and damaged strands. That's no fun!
🌟 Function of Beauty products are also vegan and gluten-free. But don't eat them. Although they work lovely, I don't think they would taste very good.
🌟 All products made by Function of Beauty are cruelty free, meaning they are not tested on animals.
🌟 The bottles are made with 50% recycled plastic & are100% Recyclable.

Side note: I did try their wavy hair leave in treatment and I wasn't too crazy about it. I think I am going to try the Function of Beauty Anti-frizz HairGoal Add-in Booster Treatment Shot with Beetroot Extract next.
