For years, I have been using my camera to photograph the nature found along the Bronx River trail system. I visit the Bronx River frequently and about a year or so ago, a thought came to me... why not create a conservation photo project about the Bronx River.
The premise of my Bronx River Photo Project is multi-faceted: (note to self: is that what I want this project to be called? It's kinda boring, right?)
Aim 1: Document through photographs the variety of bird and animal species that inhabit the Bronx River.
Aim 2: Capture on camera the seasonal, monthly, and yearly changes the Bronx River naturally goes through.
Aim 3: Photograph the beautiful flora that blooms anew each spring.
Aim 4: Curate a portfolio of images that showcase the various landscapes and waterscapes that flow 24 miles through Westchester County and Bronx County.
Aim 5: Record how humans interact with the river, both in good ways and bad ways.
Aim 6: Use my catalog of images for a bigger purpose.
This January 2025, I decided to begin working on this project. While I need to sit down and flesh out the who, what, why, when and how of my project, here are some of my captures from January 2025.
