Last week while I was journaling, I explored the concept of pausing... pausing before responding, pausing before reacting to my anxiety, and pausing to consider my options, and what and who I may be effecting. Today, I've been thinking about where I am with my creativity, because... the motivation is just not there folks and I am struggling with the un-productivity of it all. I went away to Boston with Charlie and Sam for just 2 nights and I came home feeling like I lost my sea-legs. Almost like I was motion sick from being out of my comfort zone (a/k/a Yonkers, New York). But I feel like I have so many projects I am or that I want to work on but I just don't feel the inspiration to do any. So in a way, I think I am being invited to embrace a creative pause as well. What just occurred to me literally as I write this is that as I’ve been working toward my Reiki certification, I am learning that Reiki is akin to a sacred inner pause teaching me that it is within that quiet space where your intuition or inner voice lies.
It is where this blog post was created from.
But learning how to quiet the mind is the first issue. How do we shut our minds down when we are living in a constant state of flight and our brains just won't shut the f up? I think that is where maybe a grounding practice and the sacred pause comes together.
Yes. Grounding. I am not just talking about stepping on the earth, which I think feels delightful and would work. I am talking about real grounding techniques that you can use at any time to ground yourself back into the present moment allowing you to connect to the sacred pause.
Let me know if you are curious about developing your own grounding techniques.
Yes - I am interested.
