November 2024 Edition:

Not for sale. Just for show and tell.

This months edition of 🌟 What I'm Loving Lately 🌟 is all about Tropical Cherry, a beautiful strain of marijuana that we purchased from a local cannabis retailer, and that is grown by 40 Tons, a Social Impact Brand (links at the end of the post). Let’s dive deeper into what makes this strain special — and how 40 Tons is helping to drive change in the cannabis community.

40 tons Cannabis

I was introduced to 40 Tons Tropical Cherry my hub who texted me one evening saying something like, I picked up some weed. You've got to see the color of the buds. And omg, he was right. The purple coloring in the flower was vibrant.

Doesn't this look so juicy?

Fuzzy cannabis bud
Fuzzy wuzzy, sticky sweet. This little bud was a great after work treat!

Not only that, the tiny trichomes that were visible to the eye made each bud look like it was dipped in sugar. Trichomes are those squiggly looking hair-like "threds" found on the surface of cannabis plants (and many other plants as well). Trichomes serve a variety of purposes. They are vital for the plant’s survival, and help ward off pests. They help to retain water and play an important role in the plant's overall appearance, aroma, and effects. But for those who enjoy cannabis, trichomes are particularly significant because they contain many active compounds like THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD (cannabidiol), and terpenes, all which give weed its signature effects.

This is a fruity sativa-dominant hybrid strain with 27.8% THC that offers a balanced high.

When planning this photo shoot, I definitely felt more of a masculine energy and that is why I decided to design this flat-lay on leather. Well faux leather.

But what truly sets this brand apart is not just its yummy taste or the appearance of it's beautiful buds— it's the deeper mission behind the strain.

While many cannabis companies focus solely on the product, 40 Tons uses their platform for advocacy. Their unique position allows them to bring attention to the injustices of the past and working toward a better future.

40 Tons advocates for individuals who are still incarcerated for non-violent cannabis offenses and also provides support and opportunities for those who were formerly incarcerated by helping them enter the cannabis industry. The company is actively involved in social campaigns that aim to help reduce the stigma around cannabis, particularly for communities of color, and to ensure that those who have been impacted by the war on drugs receive support and opportunities for reintegration into society. And with each sale of 40 Tons products, a portion of the sale proceeds are directed towards restorative cannabis programs.

NOW is the time for cannabis reform!

When you purchase products from 40 Tons, such as the Tropical Cherry strain, you're not just treating yourself to a lovely high — you're also supporting the brand's mission to foster justice, equity, and meaningful change.

The plant that once caused so much harm to individuals and communities over the decades is now being used to bring about healing, both physically and socially.

I have been able to purchase products distributed by 40 Tons from local cannabis retailers, including my favorite shop, The Plant, located on Central Avenue in Yonkers.

Which color background do you like most? I think my favorite is purple!

My goals for these posts are to practice my lifesytle and product photography and to build a portfolio.
